Fall 2015 Starting Dates

FALL STARTING DATES/TIMES – 2015

-  A current physical using forms mandated by the State of Ohio & OHSAA and all paperwork (now done online) must be on file before an athlete will be allowed to begin practice.

-  Besides the physical all paperwork will be done online at cfhs.finalforms.com You cannot fill out the paperwork until AFTER JUNE 10.

CROSS-COUNTRY (BOYS/GIRLS)

- Conditioning – Starts Sunday June 7th on your own. See Coach Serluco or Burnett for a packet.

-  First practice – Saturday, August 1st at Harris Stadium at 12AM, Yes 12AM

-  Equipment needed – appropriate running gear and a water bottle.

-  All medical paperwork and other paperwork must be done online prior to practicing.

-  By OHSAA rules, 10 days of supervised practice must be completed prior to competition

FOOTBALL (Grades 9-12)

-  Summer weight lifting & conditioning – June 8th-July 24th  M-W-F 7-9AM

-  Conditioning camp – Monday, July 27th thru July 31st 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

-  Mt Union Camp – July 6th-9th  at Mt Union (Grades 10-12). Registration deadline June 15th

-  Kickoff Dinner – August 1st – 6:00 P.M. 

-  Equipment handout – August 1st  9:00 A.M. to Noon; First practice – Monday, Aug 3rd at 7:30 AM

-  Equipment needed – Shorts, socks, T-shirt, football shoes

GOLF

-  First practice – Monday, August 3rd – All candidates to meet at High School parking lot at 6:15 AM, prepared to play golf; i.e. clubs, shoes, etc. School Bus will take us to Fowler’s Mill G.C., where we will be until approx. 10:30–11:00 AM. This is the first of two qualifying rounds. It is strongly suggested that candidates bring insect repellant.

-  2nd Qualifying round will be August 4th. Bus will depart from the bus garage behind Gurney at 6:15AM. Team rosters will be announced at the conclusion of this session.

  1. First day of TEAM PRACTICE will be Wednesday, August 5. Bus departs from bus garage @ 6:15 AM. This will be our point of departure, arrival unless otherwise announced.

SOCCER (GIRLS JV/V)

-  Summer Contact Days– Open Fields Sundays and Thursday Starting June 7th 7:00-8:30PM at Harris OR Gurney

-  OWU Camp- July 24-26

-  First practice- Aug 3rd 11AM-12:30PM and 6:30-8:30PM at Harris Stadium

-  Equipment needed – running shoes, cleats, inflated soccer ball, shin guards, T-shirt, shorts, water bottle, and all forms done through final forms.

TENNIS (GIRLS JV/V)

-  First practice – Monday, August 3rd  at the high school tennis courts at 3PM (ending at 5PM).

-  Equipment needed – come dressed to play. Bring water jugs and one (1) can of tennis balls

-  All Paperwork MUST be submitted online- those without paperwork will sit out.

-  Girls are encouraged to play as much tennis as possible this summer, and attend a few tournaments, clinics, or camps.

 

 

 

SOCCER (BOYS JV/V)

 

First practice – First practice – Varsity tryouts for all 2014 junior varsity players, new freshmen and students new to the district who wish to compete for a varsity position will be Saturday, August 1st from 9-11:30 AM at the Gurney School Fields. Varsity players from 2014 and players interested in playing only junior varsity soccer are excused from this practice and tryout session. Practice and tryouts for ALL players will be Monday, August 3 from 9-11:30 AM at the Gurney School fields.

            • Equipment needed – Soccer ball, LEGAL shin pads, soccer shoes, water jug with ice-cold water

Emergency forms - All forms must be submitted online http://cfhs.finalforms.com. A current physical exam card must be on file in the Athletic Office.

VOLLEYBALL (FROSH/JV/V)

-  Conditioning & open gyms (Summer) – Check website under Volleyball

-  First practice/tryouts- Monday, August 3rd

-  Equipment needed – indoor volleyball shoes, outdoor running shoes, kneepads, snack for break, and water bottle

FALL CHEERLEADING

-  Practices will be at the HS:

o   Beginning August 3rd - 9 AM to 11:30 AM outside the PAC Lobby

o   August 7th August 8th – Camp at MS Café/MS Gym/Library

-  Equipment needed: shorts, tee shirt, athletic shoes, water bottle and all of your paperwork

MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAMS

o   FOOTBALL – August 3rd from 8 AM TO 10:30 AM 

o   CROSS-COUNTRY – August 3rd 9 AM to 10 AM

o   7th & 8th GRADE VOLLEYBALL – August 3rd  8 AM to 10 AM Tryouts on August 3rd through August 6th. Players must be present to make the teams

**TEAM PHOTO DAY WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 11TH AT HARRIS STADIUM /(BACK-UP - MIDDLE SCHOOL GYM) STARTING AT 9AM
