Erik Wilson was in mid-season form as he dominated West Geauga by throwing a 1-hitter to help lead Chagrin to an 11-1 victory. The Tigers pounded out 12 hits and gave Wilson plenty of support in the win. Wilson threw a complete game as he pitched 5 innings and gave up only 1 unearned run. Wilson struck out 7 and walked none as he improved to 4-1 on the season.
Chagrin Falls scored early and often in the game. Jack Amendola led off the game with a single down the left field line past the 3rd baseman. Amendola stole 2nd and scored on Cole Newbauer’s RBI double down the right field line. Newbauer was doubled up on Kyle Zaluski’s rocket to the shortstop. Erik Wilson followed by reaching on an error. Jack Reboul followed with a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Colin Kennedy followed with a single to center to make the score 2-0. Reboul went to 3rd on the play. Max Faulds followed with an RBI single to put runners on 1st and 3rd again. Faulds stole 2nd base and Adam Bencko singled home both runs to make the score 5-0.
In the 2nd inning, Amendola doubled in the left-center gap to start the inning. After an out was made, Zaluski tripled in the right-center gap to make the score 6-0. After an out was made, Reboul doubled over the centerfielder’s head to score Zaluski for a 7-0 lead. Reboul went to 3rd on Kennedy’s single up the middle. Reboul scored on a Faulds single to give Chagrin an 8-0 lead.
Chagrin scored 3 more times in the 3rd inning. Sam Dolan walked to start the inning. After an out was made, Newbauer was hit by a pitch. Zaluski walked to load the bases. Wilson followed with a 2 run single to right to make the score 10-0. Reboul hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Zaluski to make the score 11-0. West Geauga scored an unearned run in the 4th inning to score the final run of the game.
Colin Kennedy was 3-3 with a run and an RBI. Max Faulds was 2-3 with a run, 2 RBI and a stolen base. Jack Amendola was 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases. Chagrin Falls is now 9-4 and 6-0 in the CVC.
