Chagrin Falls has a saying “early and often” when it comes to their offense. The Tigers followed the saying to a tee as they pounded out 15 hits in a 12-3 victory over the Revere Minutemen at Progressive Field. The Tigers had 9 different players get hits, including 4 players with multiple hits. Not to be outdone, Colin Kennedy was outstanding on the mound. Kennedy pitched 4 strong innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits while striking out 7 and walking only 1 batter. Kennedy gets the win and is now 3-0 on the season. Cole Weiss pitched an inning and struck out all 3 batters he faced. Ben Cervelloni pitched the final inning and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 2 batters.
Jack Amendola walked and moved to 2nd base when Cole Newbauer was hit by a pitch. Amendola stole 3rd and Newbauer stole 2nd. Zaluski followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Amendola to give Chagrin an early 1-0 lead. Newbauer moved to 3rd on the play. After the 2nd out of the inning, Jack Reboul singled home Newbauer to make the score 2-0. Colin Kennedy singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Jonathan Edwards came on to run for Kennedy and Max Faulds followed with a walk to load the bases. Adam Bencko cleared the bases with a hard single to right to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead. Bencko stole 2nd and scored on Sam Dolan’s single to give Chagrin a 6-0 lead.
In the 2nd inning, Kyle Zaluski and Erik Wilson started the inning with back to back singles. After an out was made, Kennedy singled to score Wilson to give Chagrin a 7-0 lead.
The Tigers took the 3rd inning off, but scored again in the 4th inning. After an out was made, Erik Wilson singled. After the 2nd out was made, Kennedy doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Dylan Scheetz followed with a ground ball that the shortstop couldn’t handle to score Wilson and make the score 8-0.
In the 5th inning, Ryan McLain started the inning with a single through the left side. Drew Beckwith followed with a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and Beckwith scored on a balk call to give Chagrin a 9-0 lead.
After Revere scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning, Chagrin matched it in the bottom of the inning. Cole Weiss started the inning with a single up the middle. Dawson Pierce walked. Bencko hit a line drive single up the middle to score Weiss and make the score 10-3. Amendola finished the scoring on the night when he doubled to the left-center gap for a double to score Pierce and Bencko to make the score 12-3.
Jack Amendola was 3-3 with a run, 2 RBI, a stolen base and a double. Colin Kennedy was 3-3 with an RBI and a double. Adam Bencko was 2-3 with 2 runs, 4 RBI and a stolen base. Erik Wilson was 2-3 with 2 runs. Chagrin Falls is now 10-4 on the season.
