The Tigers beat Orange 9-3 to guarantee the CVC championship belongs only to Chagrin for the 2nd straight season. The Tigers scored early and often to leave little doubt that Chagrin was not in a sharing mood. Colin Kennedy started and pitched well for the Tigers. Kennedy gave up 3 runs, 1 earned, on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5. Kennedy gets the win and is now 5-1 on the season. Cole Weiss threw a scoreless 7th inning, giving up a hit while striking out a batter.
Chagrin scored quickly by getting 3 runs across in the bottom of the 1st inning. After 2 outs were made, Kyle Zaluski doubled and Erik Wilson walked. Jack Reboul followed with a single to score Zaluski. Colin Kennedy singled to score Wilson. Reboul scored on a single by Max Faulds to make the score 3-0.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Jack Amendola singled after an out was made. Cole Newbauer doubled, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Zaluski walked to load the bases. Reboul followed with a 3 run double to right to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead.
After taking an inning off, the Tigers were back at it in the bottom of the 4th inning. Amendola led off the inning with a single and promptly stole 2nd. Newbauer walked to runners on 1st and 2nd. Amendola stole 2nd to put runners on 1st and 3rd. The Tigers then pulled off the double steal when Newbauer stole 2nd and Amendola stole home to give Chagrin a 7-0 lead. Zaluski followed with a line drive single to left to score Newbauer. Zaluski took 2nd on the throw home and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch. Erik Wilson’s ground out scored Zaluski to give Chagrin their final run of the game. Orange scored 3 times in the 5th inning to make the final score 9-3.
Jack Amendola was 2-3 with 2 runs and 3 stolen bases. Cole Newbauer was 2-3 with 2 runs, a double and a stolen base. Kyle Zaluski was 2-2 with 3 runs, a double and an RBI. Jack Reboul was 2-3 with a run, a double and 4 RBI. Chagrin Falls is 18-5 overall and 13-0 in the CVC.
