Chagrin Falls knocked off Orange for the 2nd straight day to clinch a 3rd straight CVC championship by a score of 5-2. Cole Weiss started and pitched 5 innings. Weiss gave up 1 run, none earned, on 1 hit while walking 1 and striking out 3 batters. Weiss gets the win and is now 5-0 on the season. Dawson Pierce pitched an inning. Pierce gave up a run while walking 2 batters. Jack Amendola picked up his 1st save of the season by pitching a scoreless 7th inning. Amendola gave up a hit while striking out a batter.
Chagrin Falls scored a run in the 1st inning when Jack Amendola singled on the 1st pitch of the game. Amendola stole 2nd. Zaluski walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Dawson Pierce followed with a ground ball to the pitcher in which both runners advanced. Andrew Kirkpatrick’s ground ball scored Amendola to make the score 1-0.
The Tigers came right back in the 2nd inning to score 3 more times. Max Faulds led off the inning with a single to right. After an out was made, Charlie Greenlief, Jonathan Edwards and Jack Amendola all walked to score Faulds and make the score 2-0. Zaluski hit into a fielder’s choice to score Greenlief to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead, put runners on 1st and 3rd. Zaluski was out trying to steal 2nd, but stayed in a run down long enough to score Edwards for a 4-0 Tigers lead.
Orange scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd and the bottom of the 6th to cut the lead to 4-2. However, the Tigers scored an insurance run in the top of the 7th inning. Zaluski walked to start the inning. Zaluski moved to 2nd on a wild pitch and scored on Kirkpatrick’s single to right.
Andrew Kirkpatrick was 2-4 with 2 RBI. Chagrin Falls is now 17-4 overall and 11-1 in the CVC.
