Chagrin Falls had a great week, but couldn’t finish off a perfect week as they lost to Riverside 7-3. Jack McMullen started and pitched 3.1 innings. McMullen gave up 3 runs on 4 hits walking 5 and striking out 3. McMullen took the loss and is now 0-2 on the season. Dylan Scheetz pitched 2.2 innings and gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, on 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. Dawson Pierce pitched a scoreless inning in which he struck out a batter.
The Tigers jumped out early as they scored twice in the bottom of the 1st inning. After an out was made, Kyle Zaluski and Sam Dolan hit back to back singles. Zaluski went to 3rd on the play and Dolan moved up to 2nd on the throw to 3rd. Andrew Kirkpatrick singled home Zaluski with Dolan moving to 3rd. After the 2nd out was made, Max Faulds singled home Dolan for a 2-0 lead.
Riverside cut the lead to 2-1 in the 2nd inning and took a 5-2 lead in the top of the 4th inning. Chagrin scored a run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Jonathan Edwards singled to start the inning. After 2 outs were made, Dolan singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Kirkpatrick singled home Edwards to cut the lead to 5-3. However, Riverside scored 2 more runs in the 6th to make the lead 7-3, which is how the game ended.
Andrew Kirkpatrick was 2-3 with 2 RBI. Jonathan Edwards was 2-3 with a run. Kyle Zaluski and Sam Dolan both went 2-4 and scored a run. Chagrin Falls is now 20-5 on the season.
