Chagrin Falls finished off a great week of baseball with a 13-1 victory over Chardon. Chagrin went 3-0 for the week winning by a combined 40-2. Jack McMullen dominated for the 2nd time this week picking up his 2nd win of the season. McMullen (2-0) went 4 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while walking 4 and striking out 4. Richard Higley pitched 1 inning and gave up 1 unearned run on 2 hits while striking out a batter. Andrew Kirkpatrick pitched a scoreless inning giving up a hit while striking out a batter and walking a batter.
The Tigers jumped on Chardon for 5 runs in the top of the 2nd inning - all with 2 outs in the inning. After the 1st out was made, Leo Fornara walked. After the 2nd out was made, Will Tropp was hit by a pitch to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Mikey Amendola followed with a 2-run double to make the score 2-0. Andrew Kirkpatrick followed with an infield single. Amendola scored on an errant throw to the 1st baseman. Dawson Pierce was hit by a pitch to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Gavin Stevens went in to run for Pierce. Jack McMullen drove home both runners on a double to right-centerfield to make the score 5-0.
Chagrin once again did damage after 2 outs were made in the 3rd inning. After 2 outs were made, Nick Calabrese singled through the hole on the left side. Will Tropp singled to put runners on 1st and 3rd. Amendola drove home both runners with a triple to right-centerfield to make the score 7-0. Amendola scored on a wild pitch to give Chagrin an 8-0 lead.
In the 4th inning, Pierce reached base on a dropped 3rd strike. McMullen singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Donny Hardy singled on a line drive just off the 3rd baseman’s glove to score Pierce, putting runners on 1st and 2nd. McMullen stole 3rd and scored when the ball went into left field to make the score 10-0.
Chardon scored a run in the bottom of the 5th inning to stay alive. However, the Tigers shut down any hopes by scoring 3 more runs in the top of the 6th inning. Justin Lewinski and Brett Vaccaro led off the inning with back to back walks. After an out was made, Will Tropp hit a hard ground ball off of the pitcher and reached base on an infield single to load the bases. After the 2nd out was made, Kirkpatrick delivered a 3-run double to make the score 13-1 which is how the game ended.
Will Tropp was 3-4 with 3 runs. Andrew Kirkpatrick was 3-5 with a run, a double and 3 RBI. Mike Amendola was 2-5 with 3 runs, a double, a triple and 4 RBI. Jack McMullen was 2-3 with a run, a double and 2 RBI.
